Rules and Tips
Please read the following important information carefully before attending the event. These guidelines are in place to help ensure a safe, fair and enjoyable weekend for all riders, parents, guardians, marshals, organisers, spectators and local residents. By taking part, riders are expected to follow all safety requirements, respect others on and off the track, and help us protect the venue so events like this can continue in the future.
More Information
1. Full face helmets are mandatory. Knee elbow, back protection and gloves are strongly advised and mandatory for all under 18 riders in line with Cycling Ireland regulations.
2. A parent or guardian must remain at the race venue for the duration of the event (practice day and race day) for all under 18 riders.
3. Your bike should be of a suitable standard for DH racing and must be maintained to a safe condition. Competitors deemed to have unsafe or unsuitable equipment will be disqualified (with no refund).
4. Track will be taped from Friday lunch-time. We strongly encourage all competitors to walk the track before starting to ride in practice. This allows the rider to familiarise themselves with any technical features and or locations of jumps. This will help the rider to get the most from their time on the bike.
5. For details on sign-on , uplifts and a general timetable for the event please see below.
6. Be mindful of and courteous to other riders on the track. There may be slower riders in front of you, or faster riders behind. Faster riders on track, who may wish to overtake riders ahead of them SHOULD make your presence known to the slower rider ahead. It is the faster rider’s responsibility to avoid collisions with the rider ahead of them.
7. Slower riders should be mindful of faster riders and where possible find a safe place to give way. (faster riders may shout something like ‘Rider Up’ or ‘Passing on your right’ to indicate their intention to overtake.)
8. Only riders and marshals are permitted on track when the track is ‘live’. Spectators must stay outside the tapes.
9. Avoid stopping on the track unless really necessary. If you want to stop in practice, e.g. to look at a section, do so safely, get your bike well out of everyone’s way and comply with any requests from marshals.
DO NOT push your bike back up the track between the tapes to re-ride a section.
10. Be respectful of local residents. When arriving or leaving the race village, please drive slowly with courtesy and keep noise levels to a minimum. Dangerous driving on this road will put future events here in jeopardy. Aggressive driving has caused serious problems with residents at previous races. Keep the noise down in the field/race village area.
11. Rubbish – Our event operates under the principles of Leave No Trace. It’s very important to us that this is followed by all participants. Anyone found littering will be disqualified from the event with no refund.
12. The camp site operates on a Leave no Trace principle, please bring all rubbish home with you. More information here.
12. Please use portaloos provided for your convenience.
